1. THURSDAY NOON VIGIL FOR PEACE
Our weekly noon vigils are on Thursdays. We vigil for peace in front of the Rolla Post Office THIS THURSDAY, January 7, (and all subsequent Thursdays until peace is established) from Noon to 1:00 PM. Please try to join us. The temperature is predicted to be around 10 with 20 mph winds and a slight chance of snow. Helen and I will try to be there in spite of the inclement weather.
2. SOME PICTURES FROM LIFE'S OTHER SIDE
Chris Hedges reviews two books: Peter van Agtmael's "2nd Tour Hope I don't Die" and Lori Grinker's "Afterwar: Veterans From a World in Conflict," which show pictures of war that you won't see on FOX news, (click here). After reading the article, consider buying the books. Also check out Veterans for Peace, and consider joining.
3. AIR SECURITY: ONE OF MANY FAILURES
Haroon Siddiqui discusses the security failure on Northwest Airlines' Christmas flight and other failures and fiascos of the so-called "war on terror", (click here). Siddiqui asks the important question: "What is it about our modern states that makes them so incompetent, destructive and self-defeating?"
