1. THURSDAY NOON VIGIL FOR PEACE

Our weekly noon vigils are now on Thursdays. We vigil for peace in front of the Rolla Post Office THIS THURSDAY, July 9, (and all subsequent Thursdays until peace is established) from Noon to 1:00 PM. Please try to join us. The temperature is predicted to be in the high 80s under mostly sunny skies. If you do not feel comfortable standing with us in front of the Post Office, please consider driving by and showing your support for our message by honking your horn and flashing a peace sign.

2. BILL CLINTON'S "GOOD" WAR

The 1999 Kosovo War, like our current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, was billed as a "humanitarian" intervention. David Gibbs, looking back, demonstrates that like our current wars, it was a war of choice and it did a lot more harm than good, (click here) . I suspect that if you really analyze other so-called "good" wars, in the end they have a lot more in common with Iraq and Afghanistan than with anything we might consider good.

3. A BAD DECADE FOR LATIN-AMERICAN COUPS

The 2002 CIA coup against Venezuela which attempted to overthrow the government of Hugo Chavez fizzled like a wet firecracker. The current coup in Honduras against the Zelaya government appears to be fizzling also, (click here) , or (here) .

4. PHOTOS OF WHITE PHOSPHORUS WEAPONS IN GAZA

I received by email a group of photos showing the use of white phosphorus weapons on civilians during the Israeli invasion earlier this year. White Phosphorus was used extensively on civilians during the Vietnam War. It sticks to the skin and burns to the bone. The white phosphorus weapons used in the invasion of Gaza were made in the USA. The photos are posted on my website here .
