1. THURSDAY NOON VIGIL FOR PEACE

Our weekly noon vigils are on Thursdays. We vigil for peace in front of the Rolla Post Office THIS THURSDAY, October 8, (and all subsequent Thursdays until peace is established) from Noon to 1:00 PM. This week's vigil marks the 8th anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan. Please try to join us. The temperature is predicted to be in the high 60s with a 90% chance of rain. If you do not feel comfortable standing with us in front of the Post Office, please consider driving by and showing your support for our message by honking your horn and flashing a peace sign.

2. RALLY FOR PEACE IN COLUMBIA, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11

Eight years of war is more than enough. Rally begins 1:30 in Courthouse Square, 8th and Walnut: music, speeches, peace march and more. More info at Mid-Missouri Peaceworks .

3. THE DEMISE OF THE DOLLAR

Due to financial and military excesses, the dollar has fallen to barely more than 2/3 of a euro. Robert Fisk details the world's move away from dollar supremacy and states the probable reason behind the recent spate of anti-Iranian rhetoric. Iran announced last month that its foreign currency reserves would henceforth be held in euros rather than dollars, (click here) .

4. FORGET SEX, IT'S THE MONEY

George Monbiot details why its over-consumption by the wealthy, not population growth among the poor that is stressing our planetary resources to the breaking point, (click here) .
