1. THIS WEEK ONLY: NOON VIGIL FOR PEACE ON WEDNESDAY NOV. 25
Because of Thanksgiving, we will vigil WEDNESDAY NOON, THIS WEEK ONLY in front of the Rolla Post Office. Please try to join us. The temperature is predicted to be in the mid 40s under partly cloudy skies. If you do not feel comfortable standing with us in front of the Post Office, please consider driving by and showing your support for our message by honking your horn and flashing a peace sign.
Next week we will return to Thursday vigils.
2. CHRISTMAS PARADE
The Christmas Parade will be Saturday Dec. 5 at 10 AM. We will line up on Rolla St. between 8th and 9th at 9:45. The theme is 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, and I thought we might ask for an end to foreign wars so that all the troops can be brought home to their families for Christmas. All participants have been asked not to have Santa or Mrs. Claus in their displays, so as not to compete with the Santa and Mrs. Claus at the end of the parade.

5. THEY MAKE A WASTELAND AND CALL IT DEVELOPMENT
Four years after the Supreme Court gave its blessings to the City of New London, Connecticut to take the home of Suzette Kelo for commercial development via eminent domain, Pfizer has pulled out of the development deal, and the land that once housed the Kelo home is now a wasteland, and home for "feral cats, seagulls and weeds", (click here) .
The occupations and wars in Iraq, Palestine, and Afghanistan should be reminders to us all, that where theft by law is not an option, these same people will go anywhere in the world, and in an attempt to steal what is not theirs, make a wasteland by force of arms.
The title, above, is from the Roman historian, Tacitus. Here is the entire paragragh:
“Plunderers of the world, after they, laying everything waste, run out of land, they probe even the sea: if their enemy has wealth, they have greed; if he be poor, they are ambitious; neither East nor West has sated them; alone of mankind they covet poverty with the same passion as wealth. Robbery, butchery, rape they misname empire: they make a wasteland and call it peace.”
