3. COPENHAGEN CLIMATE SUMMIT

==================
1. THURSDAY NOON VIGIL FOR PEACE
Our weekly noon vigils are on Thursdays. We vigil for peace in front of the Rolla Post Office THIS THURSDAY, December 10, (and all subsequent Thursdays until peace is established) from Noon to 1:00 PM. Please try to join us. The temperature is predicted to be in the low to mid 20s under sunny skies. If you do not feel comfortable standing with us in front of the Post Office, please consider driving by and showing your support for our message by honking your horn and flashing a peace sign.
2. CHRISTMAS PARADE
Helen and I walked in the Christmas parade last Saturday. Our new Christmas Peace Wish is posted on
my website. We plan to bring it to the Noon vigils through Christmas.
3. COPENHAGEN CLIMATE SUMMIT
The Copenhagen Climate Summit is already in disarray as a document leaked to the UK Guardian shows the wealthy "developed" countries which are responsible for most of the excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere plan to try to shove a deal down the throats of the poor "underdeveloped" countries in which the wealthy countries are permitted to continue to pollute while poor countries must drastically limit their output of carbon dioxide, (click here).
While world leaders hold the fate of the planet in their hands at Copenhagen, environmental activists from all over the world are arriving in Copenhagen to try and force world leaders to take meaningful measures to save our overheated planet, (click here).
Mark Haim at Missourians for Safe Energy sends out the following climate change reading list:
(1) Will There be a Climate Agreement? Repackaging Copenhagen By Brian Tokar, (click here).
(2) Climate change reset needed: Let the EPA crack down on carbon emissions, and switch from 'cap and trade' to 'cap and rebate' By Mike Tidwell (click here).

You can contact your political representatives and ask for a meaningful climate treaty at Copenhagen that addresses threats to our planet:
President Barack Obama: 202-456-1111 or post a message at (click here).

Sen. Claire McCaskill: 202-224-6154 or post a message at (click here).
Sen. Kit Bond: 202-224-5721 or post a message at (click here).
Representative Jo Ann Emerson 202-225-4404 or post a message at (click here).
To get on Mark's environmental activist list, send email to Mark at mail@mosafeenergy.org with subject subscribe.
As I've said so many times before in this newsletter, as long as we continue to fight wars and foster militarism, I don't see a lot of progress being made in addressing other issues that threaten our planet. If you want a healthy planet, work for peace.
